How to Root HTC Desire 816 – Complete Guide

Earlier we have posted on how to install CWM Custom Recovery on HTC Desire 816. After installing CWM or any other Custom Recovery on your Android device you always want to Root your device, so that you can play around with your Android device. Once you have rooted your device you will have access to the System Files, can use Apps which Require Root Access, can use Black Markets to download the apps for free etc. there are so many such. If you want to know the advantages and disadvantages of Rooting in Android then go here. If you are already familiar with them then let’s continue to Root HTC Desire 816.

Before we proceed to Root HTC Desire 816, we have to follow some set of rules called Pre Requisites. These rules must be followed to avoid bricking or any damage to HTC Desire 816 and also to prepare it for the rooting process.

Pre Requisites:

  • Backup all of your data to a safe location, so that if the data is lost accidentally we can retrieve it from the backup.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your device from the Developer Options. Usually located at “Settings > Developer Options”.
  • Install CWM Recovery on HTC Desire 816. How? Follow here.
  • Unlock Bootloader on HTC Desire 816. How? Follow here.

Procedure to Root HTC Desire 816:

Download the Rooting Package directly to your device SD card. Power off your mobile and enter into Fastboot Mode (Volume down + Power button). Now in Fastboot Mode, locate Recovery and select it using Power key. Choose “Install Zip from SD Card” and select rooting package which you have downloaded. Confirm to start the installation process. Once installed, Go Back and select reboot system now, this will reboot your device into normal mode. Once the device boots up, look for SuperSU app in the app drawer.
