How to update Xperia Z1 to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat using CM 11 M8 ROM:

1. Download the CM 11 M8 ROM package and Google Apps Package from here to your PC. Transfer both the packages to the root of your device’s SD card. Make sure to copy at the root of your SD card not inside any folder. Power off Xperia Z1.

2. Enter into Recovery Mode. To do so, press the power button, now while your device boots up and you see the Sony Logo, press the Volume Up button to enter into CWM Recovery Mode and press Volume Down to enter into TWRP Recovery Mode.

3. Once you are in Recovery Mode, perform operations to clear cache, dalvik cache and data. Now select “Install zip from SD card” and choose the ROM package, which you have copied earlier and install it. Now again follow the above step, but this time choose the Google Apps Package and Install it.

4. Now again perform full data reset and clear cache and dalvik cache. Once done, Go Back and select reboot system now. Once the device boots up, you can experience the taste of Android 4.4.4 Kitkat on Xperia Z1.
