Update Xperia P LT22i to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat firmware using CM 11 Custom ROM [How to Guide]

Sony has left the Xperia P LT22i on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware and is not keen in updating this device to Android 4.4 Kitkat firmware soon or later. It depends on Sony whether to upgrade this device to Android 4.4 Kitkat firmware or not, till then you can use Custom ROM’s to enjoy the latest Android 4.4.4 Kitkat firmware on Xperia P LT22i. We are going to use CM 11 Custom ROM to update Xperia P LT22i to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat firmware.

CM 11 called CyanogenMod, is the most popular and widely used Custom ROM and they are available for so many Android devices out there and are available in many versions. The CM 11 ROM is based on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat firmware. So this ROM will help you in updating Xperia P LT22i to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat firmware providing you with some tweaks and fastness.

How to update Xperia P LT22i to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat using CM 11 ROM:

Download the CM 11 Custom ROM package and Google Apps Package from here to your PC.

Extract the CM 11 ROM package and obtain boot.img file and copy it to Fastboot folder.

Copy the whole ROM package and Google Apps Package to your device’s SD card.

Power off Xperia P LT22i.

Now open the Fastboot folder on your PC and press and hold Shift key and right click any where inside the Fastboot folder at the empty space and from the options choose open command window here.

Boot Xperia P LT22i into Fastboot Mode. To do so, press and hold Volume Up key and connect your device to PC, a blue LED light will blink indication that your device is in Fastboot Mode. Now in CMD type: Fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter.

This will flash the boot.img file to your device.

Once done, type: fastboot reboot and press enter. Now while your device boots up, press the power button to enter into Recovery Mode.

Once you are in Recovery Mode, perform operations to clear cache, dalvik cache and data.

Now select “install zip from SD card” and choose the ROM package, which you have copied earlier and install it. Now again follow the above step, but this time choose the Google Apps Package and Install it.

Now again perform full data reset and clear cache and dalvik cache.
