How to Root Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H on Android KitKat

Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H is the Samsung budget Android smartphone launched earlier this year. The handset features a 4.3-inch display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 5MP rear camera and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H now can be easily rooted with Odin and iRoot application. Rooting the handset will unlock extra customization features like users can installed root only apps, Custom Recovery, Custom ROM based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and much more.

Follow the below step-by-step procedure to Root Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H using Odin and iRoot-

Early Preparations:

  • Make sure to check the device model number. The below process works only with Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H model.
  • Download and install Samsung USB drivers on your PC.
  • Charge you handset to at least 50-60% or more.
  • For safe hands, perform backup of all your important data and files to void data loss during the rooting process.

Root Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H on Android 4.4 KitKat using Odin and iRoot

Step 1: Download the rooting package and extract the same on your PC.

Step 2: Switch-off your Galaxy J1 and enter into download mode. To boot into download mode, just press and hold Volume Down, Home, and Power button at the same time for 5-8 seconds.

Step 3: Next you will see Warning Yellow Triangle Sign on your screen. Press the Volume Up key to continue.

Step 4: Launch the Odin application which was found after extracting the rooting package.

Step 5: Connect your smartphone with PC.

Step 6: Once the device is connected, the Odin will show “Added” message at the low end of the panel.

Step 7: Now find “PDA button” from the Odin application and select the file boot.tar.md5 which is obtained after extracting the rooting package.

Step 8: Next tap on “Start” to begin the flashing process. Once the process is completed, you will see a Green Box with text Pass written on it.

Step 9: The smartphone will reboot automatically.

Step 10: Next download and install iRoot application on your PC and launch after valid installation.

Step 11: Re-connect your smartphone to PC and like Odin, the iRoot will detect it automatically.

Step 12: Locate Root button on your iRoot application and tap on it. That’s it, iRoot will automatically root the Galaxy J1 SM-J100H and install the Kinguser app on your device. Now you can dis-connect the device from PC.

A third-party Android app called “Root Checker” can be used to verify the root access. Users can download and install from Google Play Store.
