In the last post we have shared How to unlock bootloader on your Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 Android phone and here we bring another tutorial to install TWRP Custom Recovery and Root the same device. Rooting of One Touch Idol 3 lets you install Custom ROMs based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop or Android M which are the latest Google Android operating system.
To remind you, the One Touch Idol 3 is the Alcatel budget smartphone featuring a 5.5-inch display, quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, runs on Android 5.0 OS and packs with a 2910 mAh battery on the back.
The following is the simple steps to install TWRP Custom Recovery and Root Alcatel One Touch Idol 3-
Rooting and installing Custom recoveries voids the company warranty completely. So, Gadgets Academy or Alcatel is not responsible for any damage occurs to your smartphone. So, follow the guide at your own risk.
- Enable USB debugging mode on your Alcatel smartphone.
- Download and install Alcatel USB drivers on your computer.
- Charge your device to at least 70% or more to avoid unnecessary power-off during the rooting process.
Install TWRP Custom Recovery on Alcatel One Touch Idol 3
Step 1: Unlock bootloader of Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 from the given link.
Step 2: Download the TWRP recovery.img file and transfer it to folder where you have extracted the bootloader files (refer above link for folder).
Step 3: Connect your smartphone with PC.
Step 4: Go to folder where you have extracted the bootloader zip file and copied TWRP recovery.img file. Now hold Shift key and Right click anywhere on that folder. Next tap on “Open Command Prompt/Window Here”.
Step 5: Now in the command prompt, give the first command: adb reboot-bootloader
This command will reboot your phone into bootloader mode.
Step 6: Enter another command: fastboot -i 0x1bbb flash recovery recovery.img
This command will flash TWRP recovery on your Alcatel One Touch Idol 3.
Step 7: Reboot your device into normal mode. TWRP Custom recovery has been successfully installed. Disconnect your device. Now its time to root your handset.
Root Alcatel One Touch Idol 3
Step 1: Download the SuperSu.zip file and transfer the file into internal storage of the phone.
Step 2: Turn off your One Touch idol 3 handset and reboot into TWRP custom recovery (Press Volume Up + Power Key together to enter into recovery).
Step 3: Now locate “Install” from recovery main menu and tap on it. Here select the file which earlier you have copied to internal storage of the device.
Step 4: Once done with flashing, reboot your device into normal mode.
Step 5: You will find SuperSu app installed in your App drawer. Download Root Checker to verify the root access.
