How to install TWRP and Root OnePlus X

OnePlus X is the latest flagship smartphone of OnePlus which is already available to purchase through Invite system. By now many of you might have already purchased the smartphone and looking for TWRP Recovery and Root procedures. Why not? As rooting unlocks extra features to the device like installation of root only apps, custom ROMs based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and many more. So, to get root access on your OnePlus X device, just follow the below process carefully.

Before starting the process, make sure the battery level is well-enough to executive the entire rooting process and you need to take backup of all the important data just incase of data loss.

Disclaimer: Rooting voids the company warranty completely. So, under the risk and start at your own choice.

Install TWRP and Root OnePlus X:

#1: Boot your device into bootloader mode. Check here for the detailed guide.

#2: Enable USB debugging on your device and also setup ABD and Fastboot drivers.

#3: Download SuperSU zip file here and save the same to the internal storage of the device. Also download TWRP image and rename the file to recovery.img and transfer the same to the ADB folder.

#4: Boot your OnePlus X device into fastboot mode and connect with PC using a USB cable.

#5: Now go to ADB folder and hold swift key and right-click anywhere in the folder to open the command prompt window.

#6: Now you need to enter the first command which will shows the list of all connected devices with PC in Fastboot mode.

#7: Now give another command to flash TWRP recovery on your device.

fastboot boot recovery.img

Now your device will boot in TWRP recovery you just flashed, not the stock recovery.

#8: Next press ‘Install’ and choose the file SuperSU-v2.XX.zip which earlier you have saved to internal storage of the device and confirm.

#9: Yip! You have just rooted your OnePlus X device. Reboot into normal mode and find SuperSU in your app drawer.

Download Root Checker app from Play Store and confirm the root access.
